February has flown by so it’s time again to share the latest updates to Matmatch. There are no flashy new visible features this month, but we’ve still made plenty of improvements. Here are the main topics we’ll cover in this update:
- Stability and performance improvements
- A new start page for prospective suppliers
- Updates to the database with new aluminium data
Stability and performance improvements
This month we’re celebrating our backend engineers, who do a lot of work that isn’t always visible. This month it’s particular relevant, as we’ve released 7 new versions of the platform – but a lot of the work has taken place under the hood.
For example, over the last couple of months, they’ve been working on things like the structure of our database. Yes, it’s a dry topic on the surface, but that doesn’t mean it’s not important. In the end, these kind of optimisations help to improve the user experience.
Code refactoring is another task backend engineers undertake that isn’t really seen. After all, the whole idea behind refactoring is to optimise the structure of existing code without changing the function it performs. So to anyone visiting the site, there are no visible changes – but the code base is kept clean and easy to read. This not only helps with the performance of the site, but also makes it easier to maintain the product and, in the end, introduce new features and functionality more quickly.
The backend team has also been working on an exciting new feature on the platform that’ll be released in the coming months – so keep your eyes peeled for that.
New page for prospective suppliers
This month we launched a new ‘start page’ for suppliers. The design has been updated and you can now learn about the benefits of listing on Matmatch in our 30-second video introduction.
The best way to learn more is to visit the page. And if you’re interested in joining, fill in the form and we’ll be in touch to arrange the next steps.
This is just one part of our mission to deliver a game-changing offering to our suppliers. It’s a great time to come on board and be the first to access new features that’ll help suppliers take advantage of the digital opportunity and generate new business.
Updates to the database
Last month it was polymers, and this month we’ve added new aluminium data to the website. Plus, we’ve improved the data we already had on the site. Some of the new data was provided by one of our major data partners.
Here are a few searches you can try to see the new data:
- Cast aluminium used in car structural components
- Aluminium Standard DIN EN 573-3
- Aluminium property data at elevated temperatures
Thanks for reading this month’s update – we’ll be back again at the end of March with another. As always, the best way to keep up-to-date is by visiting the site regularly to see what’s new. You can follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter to see all our latest content.
