Matmatch to Attend Moscow’s Metal-Expo’2017

Matmatch at Metal-Expo 2017

The demand for Russian steel production is set to increase by 1.5 per cent in 2017. At this exciting time in the industry’s development, the cosmopolitan city of Moscow prepares to host Metal-Expo 2017 as part of the 23rd International Industrial Exhibition from the 14th-17th November. The venue for this large-scale event is the VDNkHa Fairground, Moscow’s popular trade show and amusement park.

Matmatch representatives will attend the event. We hope to collaborate, discuss and network with the 27,000 expected visitors and more than 500 companies from 32 different countries. If you’re attending, get in touch to arrange a meeting.

Exhibitors include representatives from manufacturers, end-users, specialist product suppliers, recycling plants and scrap collectors, steel trading centres, researchers, insurers and financiers. State-of-the-art products on display include piping and tubing, tools and machinery, structures and new steel rolled developments.

Keynote Topics and Discussions

On Tuesday 14th November, the program kicks off with a seminar devoted to zinc corrosion protection in science and practice, presented by the Zinc Development Center. Further topics for discussion include the construction of reservoirs, thermal cutting and protective coatings, steel bridge technological trends, foundry and metallurgy manufacturing and advanced materials, among many others. Environmental topics include the impact of rational use of secondary resources, environmental law in relation to used tubing and rolled products and compliance with the Paris Agreement on Climate. As well as seminars, a number of round table discussions are available to delegates and speakers alike, on topics such as the galvanization and coating of rolled products, marketing for steel and metal trading and isostatic graphite application.

Contests and Prizes

Some of Russia’s most significant products and research projects in the steel will be revealed at the expo, with awards on offer for the most innovative and modern ones. The most prominent problem for the steel industry is maintaining an increase in efficiency while reducing costs. Measures to date include prioritizing domestic products over imported ones, increasing efficiency of production processes, reducing energy consumption and opening new, more modern facilities. Awards presented at the expo will acknowledge these efforts.

In addition to acknowledging the best steel market achievements, promotional material, sales networking, trade publications, equipment, and commissions, the panel is also interested in the groundbreaking work done by postgraduate students at metallurgy universities in Russia and by students in Russian high schools.
