Description

Material EN AW-Al Mg2,5 is produced for sheet metals, strip and plates, for extruded and drawn components, for wire and prewire for mechanical applications, as well as for prematerial for cans, caps and stoppers. The material is food-safe and is used for HF-welded tubes. To the comparable mark AlMg2,5, material No. 3.3523 acc. to DIN 1725-1 : 1983-02 applies: The alloy has a high resistance to corrosion, seawater and salted atmosphere. Strength increases and cold workability decreases according to the Mg-content. It is naturally hard, i.e. a strength increase can only be achieved by cold forming, not by controlled heat treatment. It is well brightenable and anodizable. Machinability and weldability are enhanced by increasing Mg-content. The material is used for staticly not overly loaded components. The weldability is enhanced due to the available Mg-content (>=2,5 %), but the extrusion is more complicated. Application: in packaging industry for tear open lids, stopper of all kind, beverage cans. For transport container , for signs (esp. in traffic), in construction trade for load-carrying constructions, for shutter, roll-up doors, for roofs and facade lining. In apparatus engineering for tanks (tanks for temp. up to 250°C) and pipelines, in vehicle manufacturing for coachbuilding, in aircraft construction for tanks, Honeycomb-constructions and tubes as well as for connecting elements (blind rivets, clinch nuts).
