Description

Gallium is a medium-density, soft metal with a very low melting point and a high boiling point. This particular property keeps gallium in liquid state in a wide range of temperatures, making it suitable to be used as a thermometric material for high temperature thermometers. Its melting point, as well as its triple point, are used as reference temperatures, which make gallium a perfect choice to calibrate thermometers. The rest of the applications of gallium are not of gallium metal, but of different gallium compounds such as gallium arsenide and nitride, which are semiconducting materials widely used in both the electronics industry and the led lighting industry, producing blue and violate LEDs as well as diode lasers.

This material data has been provided by Matmatch.

"Typical" values were obtained via a literature search. "Predicted" values were imputed via artificial intelligence technology. While we have placed significant efforts in ensuring data accuracy, "typical" and "predicted" data should be considered indicative and verified by appropriate material testing. Please do contact us if additional information on the the predicted data method is required.
All metrics apply to room temperature unless otherwise stated. SI units used unless otherwise stated.
Equivalent standards are similar to one or more standards provided by the supplier. Some equivalent standards may be stricter whereas others may be outside the bounds of the original standard.
