Description

This cast iron mark applies to specimen made by machining of separately cast samples. The fracture toughness of this make accounts for 14 MPa*m^1/2 (information value). The fatigue strength (Woehler- rotating bending test) accounts for the unnotched specimen (diameter: 10,6 mm) 317 N/mm², for the notched sample 190 N/mm² (unnotched specimen: For annealed ferritic cast iron with nodular graphite (GGG) the fatigue strength approximates the tensile strength x0,5 (Rm) of GGG with a Rm of 370 N/mm². The rate decreases according to the increasing Rm so far until fatigue strength for perlitic and tempered GGG approximates Rm x0,4. The rate continues to increase if the Rm exceed 740 N/mm². Notched specimen: For a sample of 10,6 mm diameter at the notch and a circumferential 45°- V-notch at a radius of 0,25 mm the fatigue strength of annealed GGG increases to a value of the fatigue strength x approx.0,63 of unnotched samples of GGG with a Rm of 370 N/mm². This value decreases according to the rising Rm of ferritic GGG. For GGG of intermediate strength values and for perlitic GGG and for tempered GGG the fatigue strength of notched samples approximates fatigue strength x0,6 of unnotched samples). Heat-treated martensite is the predominant structure. It can be also pearlite for large cast parts.

Related Standards

This material data has been provided by WIAM.

"Typical" values were obtained via a literature search. "Predicted" values were imputed via artificial intelligence technology. While we have placed significant efforts in ensuring data accuracy, "typical" and "predicted" data should be considered indicative and verified by appropriate material testing. Please do contact us if additional information on the the predicted data method is required.
All metrics apply to room temperature unless otherwise stated. SI units used unless otherwise stated.
Equivalent standards are similar to one or more standards provided by the supplier. Some equivalent standards may be stricter whereas others may be outside the bounds of the original standard.
