Description

High strength-to-weight ratio and outstanding corrosion resistance are properties inherent to titanium alloys. These properties have led to a wide range of successful applications that almost always require high reliability for markets such as power generation, aerospace, sporting equipment, automotive, chemical processing and medical. 


Ti-6Al-4V is the most widely used titanium alloy composition. It features good machinability and excellent mechanical properties. MetcoAdd Ti-6Al-4V ELI are atomized spheroidal titanium powders for additive manufacturing applications. Components manufactured from MetcoAdd Ti-6Al-4V ELI powders offer the best all-around performance for a variety of applications where weight reduction and/or corrosion resistance is a concern for industries that include aerospace, automotive and marine structures. The composition of MetcoAdd Ti-6Al-4V ELI also has numerous applications in the medical industry. 


MetcoAdd Ti-6Al-4V ELI powders meet the chemical composition of ASTM B348-13 Grade 23 and Grade 5. The lower oxygen content of Grade 23 allows users either more flexibility during manufacturing and subsequent heat treatment or to take advantage of the higher ductility and fracture toughness of low oxygen titanium.

The processes used to manufacture MetcoAdd Ti-6Al-4V ELI are tightly controlled to ensure repeatable and consistent powder quality that results in consistent printing perform.

  • MetcoAdd Ti-6Al-4V ELI-A is designed for the manufacture of high-performance components using powder bed additive manufacturing using the Laser Powder Bed process.
  • MetcoAdd Ti-6Al-4V ELI-B is a coarser version (-105 +45µm) designed for the manufacture of components using powder-bed additive manufacturing using the Electron Beam Melting (EBM) process.
  • MetcoAdd Ti-6Al-4V ELI powders are field-proven to repeatedly and reliably produce densely printed parts.
  • These products are characterized by high purity, excellent powder flowability and high packing density resulting in optimal and repeatable results for additive manufacturing.
