Description

The platinum-iridium material PtIr20 (in the literature also: Pt20Ir, Pt80Ir20, Pt / Ir80 / 20) is used for switch contacts as well as for laboratory devices or structural components such as eg. B. satellite control nozzles that are mechanically stressed, thermally and corrosively heavily used. The mechanical, thermal and corrosive resistance increases with increasing iridium content. In an oxidizing atmosphere, increased weight loss occurs in platinum-iridium alloys. PtIr20 is used for switches and relays for higher AC loads (currents over 300 mA at voltages above 12 V) with a long service life. Another field of application for this material is the use as a potentiometer alloy.

Related Standards

This material data has been provided by WIAM.

"Typical" values were obtained via a literature search. "Predicted" values were imputed via artificial intelligence technology. While we have placed significant efforts in ensuring data accuracy, "typical" and "predicted" data should be considered indicative and verified by appropriate material testing. Please do contact us if additional information on the the predicted data method is required.
All metrics apply to room temperature unless otherwise stated. SI units used unless otherwise stated.
Equivalent standards are similar to one or more standards provided by the supplier. Some equivalent standards may be stricter whereas others may be outside the bounds of the original standard.
