Description

These steel grades are generally supplied under the supervision of classification societies, in accordance with the appropriate regulations in each case. Plates can be supplied as rolled, shotblasted or shotblasted and painted.

Depending on the part of the ship where the steel is to be used, toughness values at different temperatures and/or through-thickness mechanical properties can be required. Weldability is often a key requirement.

Available options

Options available (after prior agreement):

  • Reduced carbon equivalent value
  • Ultrasonic testing
  • Through-thickness properties (Z test)
  • Shotblasting or shotblasting and painting
  • Suitability for cold bending
  • Other options specified in the standard

    Mechanical properties

Charpy V notch impact test specimens should be taken in the longitudinal direction. Transverse test specimens are not usually required. Transverse test results for plates and wide flats should be guaranteed by the supplier.
