Description

According to VdTÜV-Wbl 305 : 1999-03, the material NiCr15Fe with the material number 2.4816 is used for pressure vessels according to TRB 100 and, with interpreting the AD-Merkblatt W 2 faithfully to its meaning, for temperatures from -10 to 450 degrees as well as for ranges of applications in nuclear engineering as far as the rules of nuclear engineering or the object-related specifications permit the use of - 10 to 450 °C. The weldability is given for metal-arc welding with covered rod electrodes (2.4805, 2.4807, also 2.4668 and 2.4620) or gas-shielded welding with (wire) rods (2.4806, 2.4803). No preheating and no heat-treatment necessary. For construction purpose an heat-treatment could be necessary after after welding. It is cold and hot formable and above 400 deg. sensitive to S. The following is valid for the nickel-wrought material according to DIN 17742 : 2002-09 : the material is applied in the form of strips, sheets, tubes, bars, wires and forgings for heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant construction components. It is a non-hardenable alloy for the application in the wet-chemical field and at high temperaures. The versatility of this material leads to a large field of application from the low-temperature range up to approximately 1050 °C. The chromium content renders the material applicable for oxidizing conditions, and the high nickel content provides durability in reducing conditions. Additionally, the alloy shows outstanding properties in ammonia-containing gases as well as in nitriding or carbonizing atmospheres at high temperatures, too. The metal-removing machining of this material is to be performed preferably in the annealed condition. (Low cutting speed, since the Ni-alloy has a tendency towards strain hardening.) Owing to the great high-temperature tensile strength and the corrosion-resistance at elevated temperatures as well as the good processability, the material is the standard material for the furnace construction. NiCr15Fe possesses a good resistance to stress cracking corrosion in the presence of chloride ions. In the chemical engineering, the material proves worthwile being used in sodium hydroxide, formic acid, acetic acid and fatty acids. At temperatures of up to 550 °C, NiCr15Fe is suitable for dry gases like hydrogen chloride or chlorine gas. The good durability in high-purity water permits the application of this material in the nuclear engineering. Application for ammoina-splitting plants, gas carbonizing plants, nitriding furnaces, plants for the production of chlorinated and fluorinated hydrocarbons, ethylene-dichloride cracking tubes, production plants for alkalis, reactors and heat exchangers in plants for the production of vinyl chlorides, plant components for the production of sodium sulfide, steam generator tubes in the nuclear engineering. Processing properties: Formability: good Weldability: good Metal-removing machinability: good
