Description

This transition metal is highly corrosion resistant, shows good electrical conductivity, and has electrochemical properties that make it one of the most widely used components in rechargeable batteries. Nickel-Cadmium batteries are ubiquitous all over the world thanks to their high cycle life and different application profiles. Many cadmium compounds are used as thermally stable inorganic pigments in the plastics and ceramics industries, but as an engineering material, cadmium is best known for its use as a protection coating for different structural metals to reduce corrosion as well as enhance lubricity, which makes it especially suited to protect bolts and nuts in critical aerospace applications.
