Description

Ag925, with a purity of 925/1000 (900/000, also known as standard silver), is known internationally under the name STERLINGSILBER as the most important silver material for the production of hollowware. While this alloy used to play a lesser role in jewelery production in the past, today it is becoming more and more popular in this area for export reasons and because of its low workability. Since the color of sterling silver deviates slightly from that of the fine silver, goods made of this alloy are usually finely silvered. With jewelery and smaller parts, a pickling is often sufficient, as the pickling dissolves shallow copper components of the alloy and thus leads to the formation of a wafer-thin fine silver layer. The material is used for decorative purposes (eg silverware), in the jewelery sector as well as for the production of coins. Sterling silver is the most important silver material for jewelry and body goods. Due to its high ductility and low hardness, this alloy is ideally suited for blowing, bending and especially filigree wire work. Sterling silver is the most important silver material for jewelry and hollowware.
