Description

The material PtRh30 (in the literature also Pt30Rh, Pt70Rh30 or PtRh70/30) is ductile, corrosion-resistant, oxidation-resistant up to approx. 1000°C, abrasion-resistant, hardenable and resistant to high temperatures. It is used for highly stressed laboratory equipment, electrodes, for thermocouples (pairing PtRh30 / PtRh6 up to 1750°C), glass fiber nozzles and lining materials, for crucibles, casings and stirrers in viscometry and glass melting tanks. The mechanical, thermal and corrosive resistance increases with increasing rhodium content. An advantage of the platinum-rhodium alloy is that even in an oxidizing atmosphere only a minimum of weight loss occurs.
