Description

The material Ni99.2 with the material number 2.4066 is applied in the form of strips, sheets, tubes, bars, wires and forgings for corrosion-resistant construction components, built-in parts for light bulbs and thermionic valves. Ni99.2 is technically pure nickel with high ductility, good thermal conductivity and outstanding resistance to numerous corrosive mediums. In reducing conditions, e.g. in hydrofluoric and hydrochloric acid, the material offers good resistance to corrosion. In oxidizing conditions, a protective film forms on the surface. This process constitutes the reason for the good resistance to sodium hydroxide, hydrogen chloride (dry) and bromine (dry). Typical fields of application are chemistry and petrochemistry, e.g. heater tubes, tube plating and circulation plates of the evaporators of a caustic soda plant, plant components for the salt production, e.g. heat exchangers, centrifuges, valves and fittings, production of hydrogen chloride and chlorination of hydrocarbons like benzene, methane, ethane as well as for the production of vinyl elastomers.
