Description

Wire 80% Ni and 20% Al: hpulcas has developed a process, where a NiAl wire is made from both nickel and aluminum strips, resulting in a highly reduced input of oxides. Whereas such a wire could have been produced before, it could not have been recrystallization annealed, as the recrystallization temperature of Ni 200 is 690 to 720 °C, whereas pure aluminum melts at 660 °C. the recrystallization temperature of high purity Ni hpulcas is lower and thus the wire can be annealed and various diameters can be produced through drawing and interim annealing.

Processing history

The NiAl 80/20 wires are made by folding layered metal strips. An inserted aluminum strip replaces the commonly used aluminum powder. Ni and Al strips are jointly formed together by means of profile rolling. The produced raw NiAl round form wire is drawn to the required diameter by wire drawing and intermediate annealing. special drawing dies are used to prevent the nickel top layer from cracking.
