Description

Steel X2NiCrAlTi32-20, material number 1.4558 is applicated acc. to VdT_V-material specification 474 : 1984-12 for heat exchanger pipes for use as U-pipes in steam generators for pressurized water reactors (grit size-index acc. to EN 103 at least 7 at the straight pipe) for temperatures from -10 to 400 deg. as per KTA 3201.1 and other examined specifications as well as for pressure vessels acc. to TRB 100 and AD-data sheet W 2 at operating temperatures from -10 to 400 deg. The material can be welded in pipe plates using TIG-automatic welding, TIG-hand welding and metal arc welding. It is cold formable for bending radii of at least 4,5 x outside diameter. Heat treatment is not allowed. The material shows owing to its high Ni-content a very high resistance to stress corrosion. The material is highly resistant against stress corrosion because of the high amount of Ni.Furthermore it is very high resistant in nitric acid and organic acids as well as in aqueous media also at high temperatures. Pitting and crevice corrosion sensitiveness are not high but they are significantly higher than at 1.4539. The material is resistant to intercrystalline corrosion both in delivery and welded condition (at tubes for wall thicknesses up to max. 6 mm). Its limit temperature amounts to 400 deg. (operating time up to 100000 h, no intercrystalline corrosion). 1.4558 is only limited applicable in sulphuric and hydrochlorid acid. The steel is standard material for steam generators and feed water heater in power stations.
