Description

S460M is a weldable fine-grained steel with a min. yield point of 460 N/mm². The steel is applicated in thermo mechanical rolled condition for several types of welded constructions such as fixed and movable storage container, high-pressure pipes, bridge and load-bearing constructions. Subsequent heating above 580°C for thermo mechanical rolled products causes reduction of the strength properties. Application limit: at -20°C is warranted a notch impact energy of 40J (longitudinal test specimen). The carbon equivalent (by arrangement) amounts to: for nominal size: < 16 mm: 0,45% > 16 < 40 mm: 0,46% Cold forming: Suitability for cold bending, folding, cold flanging or cold welting has to be agreed. For sheet, strip and wide flat steel in thermo mechanical rolled condition, for nominal thickness (s) up to 12 mm can be warranted the following bending radius values: longitudinal: 5 x s transverse: 4 x s Sheet and strip of nominal thicknesses < 8 mm for cold forming of sections is available on arrangement (e.g. for production of hollow sections). Warm forming: thermo mechanical rolled products are unsuitable for warm forming.
