Description

The for pressure vessels approved steel X2CrNiMo18-15-4, mat. no. 1.4438, shows very good resistance to not oxidising media and halogenated media because of the high amount of Mo, is high polishable and good cold formable is resistant to intercrystalline corrosion in the delivery condition up to 6 mm thickness or up to 40 mm diameter and also in the welded condition, but the corrosion resistance is varying because of chemical composition and the welding conditions. Acc. DIN 17440 : 1996-09 it is used for flat products and rods and drawn wire and acc. DIN 17441 : 1997-02 for cold rolled strips and slit strips for pressure vessels. The limiting application temperature (operating time 100000 h, no intercrystalline corrosion) amounts to 350 degrees C. For the application acc. DIN 17440 : 1985-07 (X 5 CrNiMo 17 12 2) resp. acc. DIN EN 10088-1,-2,-3 : 1995-08 applies: application for acid resistant apparatus in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, cellulose industry, textile industry and in the tankship building.
