Description

1.4305 (X8CrNiS18-9) is a classic austenitic stainless steel with 0.15-0.3% Sulfur content for automated machining. It is used in application with temperatures below 400°C.

Corrosion properties

Corrosion resistance in acidic and chloride media is limited due to the addition of sulfur.When used in these media, pitting or cavity corrosion may occur. If higher corrosion resistance is required the use of the machining-optimized Acidur 4301 variant is recommended. Acidur 4305 is not resistant to intergranular corrosion As the PREN formula does not take into account the damaging influence of sulfur, the values given should be viewed with skepticism.

Heat Treatment

Solution annealing: 1000-1100°C (water, air) fast cooling

Hot forming

It is formable at 900-1200°C
