Description

According to VdTÜV-Wbl 436 : 2002-09, the material NiMo28 with the material number 2.4617 is used for pressure vessels according to TRB 100 and, with interpreting the AD-Merkblatt editions W 2 and W 10 faithfully to their meaning, for temperatures from -196 to 400 degrees. Furthermore, the highly corrosion-resistant nickel-base alloy is used for ranges of applications in nuclear engineering as far as the rules of nuclear engineering or the object-related specifications permit the use of - 196 to 400 °C. In the approved dimension range, the material is suitable for welding by means of the metal arc method, the tungsten inert-gas and the MIG method. A preheating ought to be dispensed with, attention should be paid to a low heat input and a fast dissipation of welding heat. Welding fillers that are similar to the base metal are recommended (2.4615 for welding rod and wire electrode, 2.4616 for sheathed stick electrode). As a rule, a heat treatment after the welding is not necessary. The following is valid for the material according to DIN 17744 : 2002-09: NiMo28 is applied for corrosion-resistant construction components in the form of strips, sheets, tubes, bars, wires and forgings. The alloy possesses considerable corrosion-resistance in reducing mediums, excellent resistance to pure sulphuric acid of medium concentration and to some non-oxidizing acids, good resistance to stress cracking corrosion that is caused by chlorides, and to a number of organic acids. The material is specially resistant to hydrochloric acid in wide ranges of temperature and concentration as well as to acetic and phosphoric acid. NiMo28S shows a very low content of carbon and silicium in order to ensure good corrosion properties in the welded condition, too. It also possesses excellent resistance to pitting and knife line corrosion. NiMo28 is widely applied in the chemical industry, specially with processes containing sulphuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric or acetic acid. Particularly typical fields of application are the production of styrene, bisphenol, chloroprene and acetic acid. Processing properties: Formability: good Weldability: good
