Description

Silver-molybdenum contact materials are relatively rare in Europe, more commonly used in the United States. With 20 to 80% Mo they have the highest erosion resistance at medium to high switching capacities. Silver-molybdenum composites with Mo contents of 40 to 80% generally have lower contact resistance than silver-tungsten composites of comparable composition. This is mainly due to the volatility of Mo oxide, which even at relatively low temperatures under the influence of the arc causes a self-cleaning of the contact surfaces. Silver-molybdenum contact materials, such as silver-tungsten, are used in low-voltage circuit breakers.

Related Standards

This material data has been provided by WIAM.

"Typical" values were obtained via a literature search. "Predicted" values were imputed via artificial intelligence technology. While we have placed significant efforts in ensuring data accuracy, "typical" and "predicted" data should be considered indicative and verified by appropriate material testing. Please do contact us if additional information on the the predicted data method is required.
All metrics apply to room temperature unless otherwise stated. SI units used unless otherwise stated.
Equivalent standards are similar to one or more standards provided by the supplier. Some equivalent standards may be stricter whereas others may be outside the bounds of the original standard.
