Description

The platinum-nickel material PtNi8.5, also Pt91.5Ni8.5 or 91.5Pt8.5Ni or Pt/Ni91.5/8.5, is used as contact material for switching contacts (switches and relays for higher alternating current loads with long service life as with PtIr5 , but for DC loads or AC loads with mains-synchronous switching instants) as well as for straps use. When switching DC circuits, PtNi8.5 has the additional advantage of a small areal material creeping from one contact to another. They are particularly well suited for currents above 100 mA at voltages greater than 12 V when long lifetimes are required. The material is ductile, corrosion-resistant, abrasion-resistant and erosion-resistant. It is machinable, roll-cladable and conditionally deductible from the gas phase.

Related Standards

This material data has been provided by WIAM.

"Typical" values were obtained via a literature search. "Predicted" values were imputed via artificial intelligence technology. While we have placed significant efforts in ensuring data accuracy, "typical" and "predicted" data should be considered indicative and verified by appropriate material testing. Please do contact us if additional information on the the predicted data method is required.
All metrics apply to room temperature unless otherwise stated. SI units used unless otherwise stated.
Equivalent standards are similar to one or more standards provided by the supplier. Some equivalent standards may be stricter whereas others may be outside the bounds of the original standard.
