Steel X1NiCrMoCuN25-20-7 (acc. to VdT_V-material specification 502 : 2001-06: X 1 NiCrMoCuN 25 20 6 ), material number 1.4529, is used acc. to VdT_V-Wbl 502 : 2001-06 for pressure vessels as per TRB 100 and AD-data sheet W 2 from -10 (and AD-data sheet W 10 for the form of manufacture sheet and Krupp-VDM-sectional and bar steel/forged parts from -196 deg.) to 400 deg. as well as in nuclear power engineering as far as nuclear rules or object-related specifications permit application for pressure vessels. The weldability is given for the metal-arc welding and gas-shielded welding. Preheating is not necessary. The intermediate layer temperature should not exceed 120 deg. Heat treatment (solution annealing and quenching) after the welding only in special cases necessary (special corrosion stress). As filler materials following metals are recommended: e.g. 2.4621 (EL-NiCr21Mo9Nb), 2.4831 (SG-NiCr21Mo9Nb), 2.4607 (SG-NiCr23Mo16 and 2.4611 (SG-NiMo16Cr16Ti). The two last-mentioned should preferred because of their corrosion properties. The material is cold and hot formable. To the material acc. to DIN EN 10216-5 : 2004-11 applies: X1NiCrMoCuN25-20-7 is the stronger Mo-alloyed variant of 1.4539. The steel shows a very high resistance to crevice corrosion, pitting corrosion as well as to stress corrosion caused by pitting corrosion. It has the highest steel pitting index. The material is resistant to intercrystalline corrosion, also in welded condition. Application in higher chloride contaminated media, such as in sulphuric and phosphoric acid as well as in offshore facilities. The steel is cold and warm formable. After cold forming at deformation degrees > 15 % as well as after warm forming has to be carried out a heat treatment (solution annealing at 1100 to 1180, quenching in water).
