CuZn39Mn1AlPbSi (CW718R former identification: CuZn40Al1) is an unhardenable copper alloy. High hardness and strength values are achievable by cold forming only. Strength properties, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance are increasable by Al-addition. CuZn39Mn1AlPbSi shows a mean wear resistance and favorable siding qualities. Processing properties: warm forming: very good cold forming: unfavorable machinability: moderately hard soldering: moderately soft soldering: unfavorable TIG-welding: moderately burnishing: very good The material is applicated for steering knuckle bushings, sliding bearings, sliding elements, worm gear rims and pinion gears.
