Description

The SiC-particles show a primary particle size of <100 nm with spherical shape. It has an excess of Carbon. The powder consists of larger agglomerates up to ~100μm.

This material data has been provided by RHI Magnesita GmbH.

"Typical" values were obtained via a literature search. "Predicted" values were imputed via artificial intelligence technology. While we have placed significant efforts in ensuring data accuracy, "typical" and "predicted" data should be considered indicative and verified by appropriate material testing. Please do contact us if additional information on the the predicted data method is required.
All metrics apply to room temperature unless otherwise stated. SI units used unless otherwise stated.
Equivalent standards are similar to one or more standards provided by the supplier. Some equivalent standards may be stricter whereas others may be outside the bounds of the original standard.

Summary of the EDX-analysis for SiC:

Spot 1Spot 2
Element Wt-% Atom.-% Wt-% Atom.-%
C 30.7 51.67 69.97 84.91
Al 0.93 0.7 0.44 0.24
Si 65.8147.37 28.47 14.77

The EDX-measurements clearly show that the powder mainly consist of SiC. Since the spot-to-spot analysis varies quite a lot it is indicated that the powder consists of unreacted carbon besides the pure Silicon carbide.
