Description

The material AlMgSiPb is a free-cutting alloy (boring and turning quality). It is warm and cold hardenable. Breaking the splinter is caused by the additive of Pb, and thus a troublefree splinter removal is possible with relatively high cutting performance. From the standardised free-cutting steel alloys this has to exhibit the smallest strength grade (F20 and/or F28), is however as only without surface protection corrosion resistant. It is suitable for a decorative surface treatment such as an anodising or a dyeing. The weldability is good. Heat treatment for hardening: solution annealing: 520 to 530 °C, quenching in water to 65 °C cold ageing: 5 to 8 at ambient temperature warm ageing: 4 to 16 h at 155 to 190 °C

Equivalent Materials

This material data has been provided by WIAM.

"Typical" values were obtained via a literature search. "Predicted" values were imputed via artificial intelligence technology. While we have placed significant efforts in ensuring data accuracy, "typical" and "predicted" data should be considered indicative and verified by appropriate material testing. Please do contact us if additional information on the the predicted data method is required.
All metrics apply to room temperature unless otherwise stated. SI units used unless otherwise stated.
Equivalent standards are similar to one or more standards provided by the supplier. Some equivalent standards may be stricter whereas others may be outside the bounds of the original standard.
