Description

Alloy AlCu2MgNi (AlCuMgFeNi) is an especially for aircraft construction modified alloy of type AlCuMg. Beside 2,5 % Cu it contains 1,5 % Mg as well as 1,1 % Fe and Ni. It is a natural and artificial ageable, high-strength alloy and achieves tensile strength values up to 430MPa at A5-ductile yiled of 3 to 8%. Heat-resistance properties of this alloy are enhancable by Fe- and Ni-content what represents the dominating application attribute. Heat-treatment instructions have to be most accurately adhered in order to warrant high heat-strength up to 250 deg. C. Usual semi-finished forms are thick plates, rods as well as die and free-form forged parts. This material has a high machinability, anodizability and hot-workability. It is cold-workable in soft condition resp. 2 h after solution annealing only. The alloy is not suitable for welding. Its corrosion resistance is satisfactory only. Application: in aircraft construction for large structure and power plant parts.

Equivalent Materials

This material data has been provided by WIAM.

"Typical" values were obtained via a literature search. "Predicted" values were imputed via artificial intelligence technology. While we have placed significant efforts in ensuring data accuracy, "typical" and "predicted" data should be considered indicative and verified by appropriate material testing. Please do contact us if additional information on the the predicted data method is required.
All metrics apply to room temperature unless otherwise stated. SI units used unless otherwise stated.
Equivalent standards are similar to one or more standards provided by the supplier. Some equivalent standards may be stricter whereas others may be outside the bounds of the original standard.
