Description

1.2344 (X40CrMoV5-1) is a steel plate with high hot-wear resistance, hot tensile strength, good toughness & thermal conductivity and insusceptibility to hot cracking. Can be water-cooled to a limited extent.

Application areas

Universally usable e.g. casting dies and moulds for light metal processing, mandrel bars, forging dies and inserts, hot shear blades, ejector pins and extrusion tools

Heat Treatment

Soft annealing: 750-800°C (Cooling in furnace) - Stress-relief annealing 600-650°C (Cooling in furnace) - Hardening: 1020-1050°C and quenching in air, oil or hot bath T=500-550°C
