Description

1.7220 (34CrMo4) is a quenched and tempered steel can be used in automotive engineering, as parts of the axes, screws and fastening elements.

Heat Treatment

Normalizing 840-880°C (Air), Soft annealing: 680-720°C (Air, slow cooling), Quenching: 830-890°C (Water, Oil, Polymer), Tempering: 540-680°C (Air)

Hot forming

It is formable at 850-1100°C and should then cooled slowly.

Welding

It is difficult to weld and should will not used be in welded constructions.
