Description

1.8523 (40CrMoV13-9) is a nitriding steel and used for parts in automotive and mechanical engineering. Components, such as chain bolts, are subject to high wear loads and are nitrided after processing.

It used for parts in Automotive and Mechanical engineering that are subject to high wear loads and are nitrided after processing, such as chain bolts.

Heat Treatment

Soft annealing: 650-700°C (Slow cooling), Quenching: 870-970°C (Oil, Water, Polymer), Tempering: 580-700°C, Nitriding: 480-570°C

Hot forming

It is formable at 850-1100°C and should then cooled slowly.

Welding

It is difficult to weld and should will not used be in welded constructions.
