Description

The corrosion-resistant, thirteen per cent chromium cast steel can be through quenched and hardened with air cooling in the greatest wall thicknesses, too. From this cast steel grade, bigger and complicatedly designed castings can be produced advantageously and with great safety. On top of this, the extremely low carbon content leads to a high-toughness structure with good weldability. Depending on the stress, this material can even be welded without a subsequent heat treatment. The material is suitable for fusion welding and is considered to have a good weldability, since it has been successfully used with good results in cast welding constructions, especially in combination with rolling mill and forged products made from quenchhardened high-strength fine-grain structural steels. In addition to high values for the 0.2% proof strength, GX4CrNi13-4 distinguishes itself by relatively high values of the notch impact energy at the same time. Application: The material is chiefly applied in the turbine and pump construction, furthermore in the plant and mechanical engineering, in the vehicle manufacturing and the crane construction, in the offshore-technology as well as in the underground mining at climatically determined temperatures.

Equivalent Materials

This material data has been provided by WIAM.

"Typical" values were obtained via a literature search. "Predicted" values were imputed via artificial intelligence technology. While we have placed significant efforts in ensuring data accuracy, "typical" and "predicted" data should be considered indicative and verified by appropriate material testing. Please do contact us if additional information on the the predicted data method is required.
All metrics apply to room temperature unless otherwise stated. SI units used unless otherwise stated.
Equivalent standards are similar to one or more standards provided by the supplier. Some equivalent standards may be stricter whereas others may be outside the bounds of the original standard.
