Description

Material X 2 CrNiMoN 17 13 5 (now: X2CrNiMoN17-13-5), material number 1.4539, is applicated acc. to VdT_V-Wbl 405 : 2000-12 for pressure vessels acc. to TRB 100 and AD-data sheets W 2 and W 10 from -196 to 400 deg. and for pressure gas tanks as per TRG 201 and TRG 203 from -196 to 400 deg. Further application in nuclear power engineering as far as nuclear rules or object-related specifications permit use from -196 to 400 deg. The austenitic rolled and forged steel is cold and warm formable. Its welding suitability is allowing for general accepted engineering rules examined for the following welding methods: arc hand welding, tungsten inert-gas welding, submerged welding and plasma welding. A pre-heating is not necessary, a heat after treatment (solution annealing with subsequent quenching) is required only in certain cases (special corrosion load). Steel X2CrNiMoN17-13-5 is comparable to X 2 CrNiMoN 17 13 5 acc. to DIN 17440 : 1985-07 (invalid). The material shows high pitting and crevice corrosion resistance (more favorable properties than 1.4436) as well as stress corrosion resistance, highest general resistance in many organic acids with high concentration and temperature, e.g. in nonoxidizing acids and chloride containing media (seawater, hypochloride base), also in inorganic and mixed acids as well as resistance to intercrystalline corrosion also in sensitized condition. Application in reactor industry, offshore technology, chemical industry.
